The Doom Wall 2: Burst – A Gem Lost To Time

The Doom Wall 2: Burst is a fast-paced platformer where you run away from a wall of shadows called The Doom Wall. It was released to the Roblox platform on the 13th of July, 2016.

TDW2 has a total of 17 unique maps, each with varying difficulty levels from 0 to 8 stars. In these maps, you can find a variety of hazards and obstacles to avoid, ranging from deadly lasers and violent rivers to raging tornadoes and geysers of lava. There are also several boosters to help you out, such as boost pads, springs, and rails. The most important booster, however, is a transparent white wall/orb, that, when touched, allows you to take flight, soaring through the skies until you touch another one and are brought back to the ground.

Between rounds, you can access the game’s shop, where you can spend the points you gain by playing the game to customise your character. There are four sections in the shop. The first section, Binders, contains shoes known as Binders, which have wings on the back of them. The second section, Customization, contains hats, faces, and titles that float above you. The third section, Effects, contains particle effects. The final section, Gamepasses, is a special section, since the items are bought using Robux, which is Roblox’s premium currency. In it, you can buy several exclusive binders, as well as passes that do several things, some being purely cosmetic, others giving you advantages. Lastly, you can buy points directly instead of getting them by playing the game.

TDW2’s control scheme is relatively simple. WASD or arrow keys to move, spacebar to jump, and mouse to move your camera. However, there are also a few special controls, which you’ll need to learn to escape The Doom Wall. First, you can slide by pressing Z. This allows you to get through small gaps that are otherwise too small for you to enter. When you’re flying, you can press Q or E to strafe to the left or right, and if there’s an obstacle in your way, you can press F to kick it away. Lastly, by holding X while on a rail, you can speed up, which- aside from being helpful- just looks really cool.

Although TDW2 is a very fun game, there are a few bugs, as it’s been abandoned for a while now. One of the most game-breaking bugs occurs as early as the lobby, where attempting to jump will freeze you in the air instead of making you start flying as it’s supposed to. Resetting in this state will fix you, but you’ll be kicked from the game not long after. If you want to jump in the lobby, you’ll need to touch one of the two red orbs, which disables the flying toggle. However, dying at any point will turn the toggle back on.

Overall, The Doom Wall 2: Burst is a great game with a unique gimmick, and it’s unfortunate how it’s been almost entirely forgotten. If you want to play it, you can do so here.
