Now I have to talk about the pawn – the pawn is not the most powerful piece, but if you get it to the other side of the board, then you can upgrade it to any other piece apart from the king. This means that if you don’t get your queen killed, then you can have two or more queens on the board at a time.
The key part in chess is checks and checkmates. To check someone is to attack the king but a checkmate is when you attack the king but wherever the king moves it will be checked again and then killed. In chess there is a way to win the game in two moves but you need to play the black side and your opponent needs to do something extremely stupid.
In chess, one of the minor things that is important is to get your pieces to the middle of the board so they can be used to the best advantage . This is because the pieces in the middle can use all the available moves without being limited by the border. What I have been talking about is normally called “advancing your piece”. Something I said in the first paragraph is that if you can get one of your pawns to the other end of the board, then you can promote it. Most of the time, you would want to promote the pawn to a queen, but in some scenarios it is actually better to promote to a knight, because the knight has a different move set that looks like a L, and the queen has a straight line and diangle line.
