Crossy Road was my childhood game and I still play it to this day. Basically, in Crossy Road you need to help a chicken cross the road. The game is challenging because on the road there are passing cars or sometimes lots of crocodiles. Different player characters will have different maps. For example, the penguin has an arctic map, the astronaut is in space, and the bowl of ramen has a distinctly Japanese traffic scape.
The game consists of you having to advance through the levels by overcoming obstacles, such as crossing oncoming traffic, jumping over alligators, and so much more.
The game was released a long time ago, but sometimes it still updates new events or new characters. Most of the updates are a tournament, in which you have to use a selected character to go the farthest you can. If you surpass all other players on the leaderboard, you receive a secret box. The prize you receive from the secret box depends on which place you came on the leaderboard.
People enjoy this game because of its simplicity. The game has simple rules that are accessible to children and adults.
After a decade of its initial release, Crossy Road has reached a total of 90 million downloads. As the years have gone on, there have been a lot of games that have been released that are similar, but Crossy Road still stays on top as it is a nostalgic childhood game for many players that frequently updates. Even though the game still has a lot of players, the game is not as popular as it was many years ago. The reason it is not popular is very simple. Most people can now use their smartphones to play more advanced adventure games, fighting games, and sports games.
With all that being said, the reason I and many others still enjoy playing Crossy Road is because of its simplicity, the animations and the fact the game doesn’t have a lot of ads, unlike most mobile games nowadays. Not to mention the fact that the game is completely free to play, as all the items in the game you can buy are earned from gameplay.
