6 Of Roblox’s Best Racing Games

With all the games on Roblox, you’d be surprised at how few good racing games the platform has to offer. The few good racing games that do exist are buried under mountains of driving games and cheap cash grabs. To save you the trouble of sifting through all those games, I’ve picked out six of my personal favourites for you to try out.

SKENGINES

Starting off the list with one of the least known games, SKENGINES is a racing game similar to Mario Kart, where a round contains 4 races, each race usually consisting of 3 laps. You can pick up power-ups throughout the track, which you can use to boost yourself or sabotage your opponents. The main difference between SKENGINES and Mario Kart is the way that they control. Aside from the obvious difference between keyboard and controller input, SKENGINES’ movement is much more responsive than most racing games, with almost instantaneous turning. Overall, SKENGINES is great if you want to try something a bit different, while still sticking to a more familiar type of racing game.

Superstar Racers

Next up, we have both the newest and most popular game on this list. Superstar Racers is a fast-paced platformer/racing game where your only objective is to reach the finish line as fast as possible. Although the controls may look difficult, they’re actually very easy to learn, and there are only a few moves to keep in mind. The game is still in development, and it gets better with every update, so if you like platformers, I recommend you give Superstar Racers a try.

Shockwave Racing

Keeping on the topic of more popular games, Shockwave Racing is a platformer/racing game where you run through a randomly generated course, dodging obstacles to get to the end before anyone else. There are 3 modes in Shockwave Racing: Fastest Runner, where you simply race to the end, Boomerang, where you race to the end and then run back to the beginning, and Winning Streak, where you run to the end as many times as you can before the timer runs out, losing your streak if you fall even once. One thing I dislike about Shockwave Racing is its movement system. It’s not bad by any means, letting you run on walls and jump multiple times in the air, but the movement feels slippery, and is difficult to get used to. If you don’t mind that, then Shockwave Racing is a great game to try out.

Boost Vector

Back to some lesser known games, Boost Vector is an insanely high-speed parkour racing game, where instead of running, you’re skating. More specifically, you’re ice skating. Boost Vector is one of the most difficult games to learn on this list, because of the brutal ice physics, but once you’ve got the movement down, it becomes one of the most fun games here. The main mechanic of Boost Vector is your boost, which you can activate by holding shift, which gives you a burst of speed that can either send you flying past your opponents, or flying off the map. If you can take the time to adapt to the ice physics, Boost Vector is a game that you have to try.

Super Blocky Ball

Onto possibly the oldest game on the list, Super Blocky Ball is a racing game that has you controlling a ball, navigating twists and turns to reach the finish line. Every race takes 3 laps to complete, with a few exceptions, and you can use boost panels around the course to speed up and roll past your opponents. The movement is slippery (which is to be expected since you’re a ball), but not to the point where it’s difficult to play. If you’re looking for a game that’s quick and easy to pick up, I recommend you try Super Blocky Ball

I want to preface this last entry by saying that every game on this list is unordered, and I don’t believe that any of them are better or worse than the others. This last game is an exception.

The Doom Wall 2: Burst

The Doom Wall 2: Burst is, in my opinion, the best game on this list. It’s a platformer/racing game where you run, slide across rails, and even fly through the sky. The levels range in difficulty from 0 to 8 stars, and even the easiest levels are incredibly fun to play. The controls are very easy to learn, and every trick is told to you either on the starting screen or in tips at the bottom of the screen in the maps that they’re used. It is very old, so there are a few bugs to avoid, but the only serious bug occurs in the lobby, and can be easily avoided if you just don’t jump while in the lobby. On top of that, a third installment in the series is in development, which will hopefully iron out all the glitches and bring an even better experience. No matter what type of games you like, The Doom Wall 2: Burst is a must-try.

That’s the end of the list! If you enjoy racing games, I strongly recommend you try at least a few of these. I hope that you find at least one of them interesting, and maybe you’ll even find a new favourite game! Links to each game can be found in their respective sections.
