Doki Doki Literature Club, also known as DDLC, is recognised as one of the best visual novels of all time. It was launched by Team Salvato on September 22, 2017, and it is slowly getting forgotten. To prevent this, the author will usually write a sequel to stop it from happening. This time, however, Team Salvato did something different. They developed a DLC called DDLC+ with extra help from Serenity Forge.
DDLC+ includes side stories that play a role in how each member of the literature club met and became friends. It’s a neat little addition that gives some background on how the group came to be. Team Salvato also worked with a new composer to create plenty of new music for the game, which can now be heard at any point with the new music player. Another significant addition is the addition of new images to unlock in the game. It has also been ported to other platforms, including the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox.

Doesn’t that sound good? No, not exactly… Allow me to explain.
The first issue is the cost of DDLC+.
We are all aware that DDLC+ is a significant addition to DDLC, but it is safe to say that it is far too expensive. Back in 2020, Team Salvato released the Doki Doki Literature Club Fan Pack for $10, which added some content and served as a nice little cherry on top of the Dating Simulator. If DDLC+ costs $15 or $20, more people would be willing to pay for it. With everything that DDLC+ had offered, it is not worth $30 to purchase it.
The second issue is obvious: where is the sequel promised by Team Salvato in the easter eggs found in DDLC?
Team Salvato hid tons of easter eggs in DDLC related to the DDLC sequel, but we heard nothing about it. Serenity Forge also assisted Team Salvato with this project. They could have easily formed a collaboration to work on the next game, but instead chose to milk the community for $30!!! Now that DDLC is trending with the new add-on, I believe we should be asking for something new. So, Team Salvato and everyone else who has done an amazing job working on Doki Doki Literature Club, when are we going to get the sequel?
But, after all of that, the DDLC+ appears to be very strange with the price and the promised sequel. So maybe, there’s something secret hidden in DDLC+ or easter eggs that tells us about Team Salvato’s next game! So, we’d better start looking!
