BDSP (Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl) was released on the 19th of November 2021 and at the time everyone was ecstatic about it. we would later learn it was not worth all that excitement.
BDSP was around $60 each. that is not together so to buy Brilliant Diamond AND Shining Pearl together it would be closer to $120. That is ridiculously overpriced because if you have a 3DS it would be better to play Pokémon Platinum instead, but only if you already have it. Pokémon Platinum is extremely hard to buy. Because these days some people are selling them for $200 each. now that is overpriced.
BDSP is a lot like most Pokémon games, especially Diamond and pearl, because BDSP is just a remake, and it is a very faithful remake. It is too faithful to the original. It’s basically just a port of the game with the smallest margin more content in store. Everyone wanted these games to be more like Pokémon Platinum (basically the later release enhanced version). But to everyone horror it took nothing from Pokémon Platinum.
Before BDSP there was SWSH (Sword and Shield) and after BDSP there was Legends Arceus. SWSH weren’t the best games out there. In saying that, they did add the wild area where there are open spaces where Pokémon walk around, and when you walk into these Pokémon it will commence a battle. Legends Arceus was in my opinion the best Pokémon game by far because it added tonnes of new features. In legends Arceus, now you can catch Pokémon outside of battles which no-one thought could ever be in the game. It was a good change. It also added strong and agile style that when you levelled up tons, you could master moves, and use those styles. You can use strong style: which makes your moves more powerful but slower. Or you can use agile style: which makes your Pokémon faster but weaker. Legends Arceus also added new Pokémon plus alpha Pokémon aka Pokémon that are a lot more powerful and will attack. Legends Arceus added so much more so I think is that you should get legends Arceus instead of BDSP because I think legends Arceus is so much better than BDSP. It’s crazy!
BDSP is a remake of an incredibly old game where you battle, find, and catch Pokémon, but the evil team galactic are trying to capture the legendary Pokémon. It is your job to stop them and beat the Pokémon league and its champion Cynthia. Plus, you need to catch every Pokémon in the Pokédex, and national Pokédex to complete the game, when I say national Pokédex I mean every Pokémon made up intel gen 4.
Is BDSP worth buying? Simply, no. Even though it is a very fateful remake, that it is a bit to faithful to the original. It is basically Diamond and Pearl with 3D graphics and an underground where you can catch Pokémon. That is, it! Yes, it has, when you are playing through the main story, a little more Pokémon. Plus, some quality-of-life changes, but the game compared to something like legends Arceus is just a joke. If you have a choice between BDSP or Legends Arceus or even SWSH do not go BDSP in my opinion.
BDSP is mostly the same old format as all Pokémon games. Unlike most Pokémon games when it was released, it was a disappointment, Unlike something like Legends Arceus. It is also a remake of Diamond and Pearl, but it is too similar, it was basically just a port of Diamond and Pearl. BDSP is a “remake” of Diamond and Pearl but with better graphics, a few quality-of-life changes, and it has the new underground, so when you are playing through you can get some more Pokémon. That is, it. Everyone just wanted it to be like Pokémon platinum.
So BDSP could have been so much better if they only used Pokémon platinum as a base and made some changes to the story. Everyone would have thought it was one of the best Pokémon games. but the developers just half assed it and did almost NOTHING to improve it. If you wanted something better than this, then blame the creators. if you liked the remakes (and understand what we missed out on), I do not blame you. It is a Pokémon game after all, but I would instead suggest you buy Legends Arceus instead.
