Red Dead Review

Red Dead Redemption 2 is an open-world game that has amazing graphics and scenery. You play as a cowboy called Arthur Morgan in the year 1899, whose aim is to complete missions so he can leave America. It is a prequel to Red Dead Redemption (RDR1), in which you play as John Marston in 1911.

I believe the game was so highly anticipated because it had such an engaging storyline and great mechanics. The storyline is very well-written, and the game is much better than RDR1 because it was made eight years later. Although the first game is still very well made, the new game has greatly improved graphics and mechanics. The graphics are so good that the game almost looks real, and the scenery, such as the mountains and rivers, is hyperrealistic. The characters are also very well made because of their outfits, their origins, and the character design in general. In particular, I really like Dutch’s character design because of his outfits; he likes to wear tuxedos and suits even though he is an outlaw., his backstory and how he becomes more and more mentally unstable over time. Also, the different varieties of guns, clothes and accessories make the game a lot more fun because there is always something you can spend money on. You can also craft things like tonics, hunting bait and ammunition. The hunting system is great; you can skin and cook animals, and if you shoot them too much, their pelt becomes a lower grade, and if you have an animal on your horse for too long, the animal decomposes and can’t be sold anymore. Another great mechanic in this game is called deadeye. You can slow down time when aiming your gun to show how fast Arthur is at shooting.

I really love all the interactions you can come across in the open world and the stranger missions. I enjoy the stranger mission, where you have to find dinosaur fossils for a palaeontologist. My favourite mission has to be “American Venom”, where you interrogate Cleet, Micah’s old friend, and hunt down Micah and kill him and take the Blackwater money. I also like the mission “Blood Feuds, Ancient and Modern”, where you kill the Braithwaites and burn down their mansion because they had taken Jack Marston. “Revenge is a Dish Best Eaten”, where you raid Angelo Bronte’s mansion, kill all his hired guns and then drown him and feed him to alligators, is also another favourite of mine. I also like random encounters like the easter egg monster, where you can see a bunch of animals stitched together in a house in Van Horn, which is a subtle reference to South Park’s ManBearPig character.

Overall, Red Dead Redemption 2 is a great game. If I could improve anything in the game, I would make it so that you don’t lose money every time you get killed by someone. Apart from this, it is a perfect game in my eyes. I would recommend this game to all gamers and would give it a score of 10/10.
