Stug.io

I was playing a tank game built in Scratch when I scrolled down and found a comment saying: ‘there is a similar game called Stug.io!’ Since I really enjoy playing tank games, I searched it up and created an account. I tried it out and it was really fun.

Stug.io is a 2D tank battle game, made by Bombsight Games. It is downloadable on Steam or you could just play it on your browser. It has a few realistic mechanics like, armour thickness, ricochet mechanics and a few driving mechanics. The art style is a mix of cartoon/digital art. There are different maps with some special characteristics, for example it would be harder to move around on the ice map.

There are 4 nations: GLACIS Defense Pact, United Armored States, Vulgrand Revolutionary Republic and Bundesrepublik Panzerchland. The GLACIS defense pact is completely made up, the United Armored States is based on the USA, the Vulgrand Revolutionary Republic is based on USSR and the Bundesrepublik Panzerchland is based on Germany.

All of the tanks are more or less based on tanks from WW2, the developers twisted them by giving them a different name, for example the Maus is named Haus, Stug.io also includes many other knockoff tanks in the game.

The game has 3 main game modes: conquest, battle and one special mode that rotates every few days. In conquest, you have to capture and hold all the points for 30 seconds to launch a nuke. In a team deathmatch you get put into a team of 2 and have to try and eliminate the other team 4 times to win. The last game modes changes every few days this can be can be tank football, free for all or any other mode.

Overall Stug.io is a very fun 2d tank battle game, there are many tanks that you can play and some interesting interpretation of real mechanics. My only complaint is that the grind is too steep.
